He gets involved romantically with his neighbour, who is also a drug addict. Things get complicated when he is made his boss's protege. When it is time to bust the syndicate, he realises he does so with a heavy heart, such is the bond between him and his "mentor".
I feel that this show is well produced. The producer is sending out a message to the audience - that all junkies come to a bad end. In particular, group communication can be inferred from the movie. In the movie it is shown that the heroin gang has a very structured organisation, all the way from the leader to the runners. They are interdependent and members of the group all share a common goal. Each member of the group does his own part. For example, the leader coordinates movement, the runners act as the link between buyers and sellers. This is also known as group synergy, where there is more input as compared to all invidivduals put together.

ok on a more serious note, protege did bring about its msg about drugs very well. With deaths, breaking of family bonds and bad health. well hopefully it made an impact on ppl's lives around the wolrd [:
Many movies these days all have underlying meanings to it and use tactics of evoking emotions to present the message to the audiences.

Well, i have not gotten the time to watch it yet but what would really drive me to watch movie is ultimately because of the actor (handsome faces, plus plus :D )
i'm sure it applies the same to guys out there. PRETTY WOMAN; SUCKY SHOW = still want to watch.

I personally thought the movie was kinda draggy. Some of the scenes shown by the movie seems over exaggerated.
We should take everything we see with a pinch of salt.
well, at least singapore was featured towards the ending part of the show. i remember reading somewhere that this show is actually based partially on a true story, about how undercover cops find it hard to draw the line between good and bad after going undercover for so many years. we now no more about the drug trafficking syndicate around the world.
